אני אוהבת את A Series of Unfortunate Events. ניסיתי עכשיו לכתוב ולהסביר על מה הסדרה, אבל: 1. הסדרה הזאת יותר מדי מיוחדת מכדי לסכם את כולה בכמה משפטים. 2. אני לא טובה בכתיבת סיכומים כאלה. ו-3. אני לא אוהבת לכתוב סיכומים כאלה. :) אני רק אגיד שלֶמוֹנִי סְנִיקֶט, הסופר (שזה כמובן לא השם האמיתי שלו, אלא השם הבדוי של דניאל הנדלר), הוא פשוט גאון אמיתי. באמת.

I love A Series of Unfortunate Events. I just tried to write and explain what the series is all about for my Israeli readers (the series is not known here so explanation is necessary). Good thing you have probably heard about it. But I wouldn't write about it even if you didn't, because of the same reasons I didn't for my Israeli readers, which are as follows: 1. this series is too special and unique to summarize all of it in a few sentences. 2. I'm not very good at writing such summaries. And 3. I don't like writing such summaries. :) I'll just say that Lemony Snicket (AKA Daniel Handler) is, simply put, a true genius. Seriously.

בסדרה יש 13 ספרים, כשבכל אחד מהם יש 13 פרקים. לספר ה-13 קוראים פשוט The End ("הסוף"), ובו, אחרי 13 הפרקים, יש כאילו עוד ספר בסופו שנקרא Chapter Fourteen ("פרק 14"). ועכשיו, שזה מסודר, הנה כל הסיפור שרציתי לספר לכם היום, מתוך הג'ורנלינג שבדף המעוצב שהכנתי:

בליל שבת [לפני כמה שבועות] הסתכלתי על המדף בחדר שעליו מסודרים ספרי למוני סניקט שלי. היה כבר 12:45 בלילה, אבל קמתי מהמיטה, הורדתי מהמדף את ספר 13, פתחתי בתחילת פרק 13 והתחלתי לקרוא. קראתי את כולו ואת כל Chapter Fourteen. זה לקח לי שעה. קראתי לאט, "בקול" בשקט (תמי ישנה בחדר), ונהניתי נורא! זה היה כזה כיף. זאת הייתה הפעם הראשונה שאני ממש קוראת חלק מלמוני סניקט בפעם השנייה. אני כ"כ אוהבת לקרוא שוב ספרים שאני אוהבת. זה היה ממש כיף. יש קטעים שממש ריגשו אותי ויש כאלה שהעלו לי דמעות בעיניים. אני מעריצה את למוני סניקט. ודניאל הנדלר. J

The series has 13 books, and each book has 13 chapters. The 13th book is called The End, and after its 13 chapters, there is a special extra chapter called Chapter Fourteen. And now, that that's explained, here is the entire story that I wanted to tell you today, from the journaling on my scrapbook page:

At Shabbat night [a few weeks ago] I looked at my Lemony Snicket shelf. It was 12:45 at night, but I got up from my bed, took book 13 down from the shelf, opened at the beginning of chapter 13 and started reading. I read all of it and all Chapter Fourteen. It took me an hour. I read slowly, and had a great time! It was so much fun. It was the first time I really read a part of Lemony Snicket for the second time. I love rereading my favorite books. It was so much fun. There were parts that really touched me and there were some that made tears well up in my eyes. I admire Lemony Snicket. And Daniel Handler. J

את כל הציורים בצד השמאלי של הדף, ציירתי בעצמי. הם כולם קשורים לספרים. בית נשרף (הגיאומטריה שם קצת מפוקששת, אבל למי אכפת), מסיכה, חוף ים, סימן שאלה, החתימה של למוני סניקט, השם Beatrice וכו' וכו'.

בכל סוף ספר (במהדורה של הכריכה הקשיחה, ליתר דיוק) יש כאילו מכתב מלמוני סניקט לעורך שלו. בדרך כלל המכתבים נראים כאילו הם שרדו הרפתקאות ממש קשות – כאילו הם נרטבו או נקרעו או נכתבו במכונת כתיבה שבקושי עובדת וכו' וכו'. זה המכתב שנמצא בסוף הספר הזה (שנראה דווקא בסדר), לפני Chapter Fourteen:

I hand-drew all the drawings to the left. They are all somehow connected to the books. A burning house (the geometry there is quite messed up, but who cares), a mask, a beach, a question mark, Lemony Snicket's signature, the name Beatrice etc etc.

At the end of every book (in the hardcover edition, to be exact) there is a letter from Lemony Snicket to his editor. Usually the letters look like they have survived horrible adventures – some of them look wet or torn or as if they were written in a barely working typewriter etc etc. That's the letter of The End (that's actually look ok), just before Chapter Fourteen:

('הסוף של "הסוף" נמצא בסוף של "הסוף".' ואז אחרי המכתב, בסוף הספר שנקרא "הסוף", מגיע הסוף, בחלק שנקרא Chapter Fourteen. פשוט, נכון? :))

השתמשתי במשפט הזה ככותרת לעמוד המעוצב שלי. השתמשתי בחותמות גומי קטנות של Inkadinkado ודיו Staz-On בצבע חום כדי להחתים אותו.

(After the letter, at the end of The End, comes Chapter Fourteen, which is the end of The End. Simple, right?)

I used this sentence as a title for my layout. I stamped it with small Inkadinkado rubber stamps and brown Staz-On ink.

זהו להיום. סופשבוע נפלא! היום חגגתי עם חברות יום הולדת לשתי חברות שלנו בים, ואח שלי בא לשבת, ככה שסוף השבוע שלי כבר, וגם בטוח יהיה, נפלא. ♥
